El ajo , procedente del centro y sur de Asia desde donde se propagó al área mediterránea y de ahi al resto del mundo, se cultiva desde hace miles de años. Unos 3.000 años A.C., ya se consumía en la India y en Egipto...A finales del s. XV los españoles introdujeron el ajo al continente americano...
